Jack Broderick

 

Although Jack has traveled extensively, painting, teaching and exhibiting in Europe, Asia and Latin America, Northeastern Connecticut is his home.  Its deep forests, enduring farmlands and ever-changing weather are a challenge and a joy to paint. 

To Jack, life is a conversation… art is a conversation.  It is a conversation between artist and subject, whether the subject is a landscape, a still life or a model.

In Argentina, he has had several solo shows in galleries in Buenos Aires and a solo show at the Museo del Pintura Jose Antonio Terry, in Tilcara in the Province of Jujuy, In 2004, he was in a diverse show of 5 artists from Japan, Argentina and the United States in Paris, France. The same year he was in a show in  Palermo, Italy.  In April 2004, Jack was awarded a residency at the prestigious Fundacion Valparaiso in Mojacar, Spain. In April 2006, he exhibited in the Niche-Gallery in Tokyo, Japan.  He has also taught plein air workshops in Vagliagli, Tuscany, Italy for Il Chiostro.   Jack has traveled to Ireland and  Cuba to paint and has given classes in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

As a member of the Copley Society, he received the society’s Robb Sagendorph Award in 2000 and he earned the distinction of "Copley Artist" in 2004.  He has taught classes and workshops in drawing and painting at the Lyme Art Association of which he is an Elected Artist Member.  Jack is now teaching painting and drawing in his studio at the Mill Works in Willington, CT.
